Due to the development of transportation and communication, metropolitan areas had been emerged over the world and interaction between border areas has been more activated. It brings cooperation over the jurisdiction on the rise as a regional policy. Network between cities is not a policy vogue but an essential factor for a regional development policy beyond the Economic Region and Regional happiness life Zone.
In this context, this study analyzes spatial structure network patterns of 11 cities and counties within Chungbuk Jurisdiction using the intercity and express bus route and frequency between origin and destination.
The analysis spatially results in three characteristics as follows: Firstly, Cheongju, the primate cityand northern areas in Chungbuk Jurisdiction such as Chungju, Jincheon, Eumseong, Danyang became a part of Seoul metropolitan area. They have more connections with Seoul than Daejeon, Cheonan, and other major cities in Chungbuk jurisdiction.
Secondly, spatial structue of Chungbuk jurisdiction is devided into two parts, Northern and middle areas of Chungbuk such as Jincheon are ‘Seoul-linked area’. And other areas are included in ‘Cheongju-linked area’. In Jincheon case, The intercity and express bus frequency to Seoul is four times busier than Cheongju.
Lastly, the connection between cities and countries across the border are strenghten. Chungju, Eumseong, Jincheon are forming a strong axis with Seoul Metropolitan Area, Jecheon has many ties with the border areas in Kangwon jurisdiction. and Okcheon is linked to Dajeon the most, and Boeun, Sangju as well.
