This study was designed to address the grammatical errors in EFL college students’ writing because the researcher found that there were a number of errors in their English composition assignments. The data for this study was collected in an intact conversational class in which the participants of this study completed three writing assignments throughout the semester. Students were asked to write answers in English to three questions they chose in the list of possible interview questions. They were allowed to write as much as they want. An English native speaker instructor mark that addressed a student’s language errors was classified using error categories proposed by Ferris (2002). After students’ errors were classified, frequencies of each category were tallied. The findings of the analysis, stated as frequencies and percentages, were provided. The features of the three biggest error types (mechanics such as capitalization and punctuation, articles/ determiners, and sentence structure) were then discussed along with some pedagogical suggestions. Finally, the limitations of the study were presented.
