Since Hallyu(Korean Wave) was begun in China in 1997, it has been rapidly expanded throughout the world. Now, Hallyu has a huge economic and socio-cultural effect in Korea and lots of studies have been done on Hallyu tourism. At this point, it is necessary to review all studies conducted from 2003 to 2012 on Hallyu tourismpublished on research journals. The total of 61 articles were reviewed based on characteristics of study, subject and object of study, study methods, and construction of study. From the results of the study, it reveals that the first research on Hallyu tourism was published in 2003 and the number of the research on this topic has increased by 2007. And more studies were conducted from 2010 with the trend of new-Hallyu. The subject of research on Hallyu was mainly focused on tourists behavior who visit Korea because of the Hallyu and the policy direction and marketing strategies for Hallyu suppliers. The research on Hallyu was conducted mainly on China, Japan, and southeast asia including Hongkong, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Thailand. Those studies are composed of cause of rising, current situation, the effect of Hallyu, and suggestion for development of Hallyu. Based on the results of study, it is recommended that the research on Hallyu needs to apply for many countries outside the Asia and study subject needs to be more diverse and specific. And also the broader and long-term view on this subject is necessary.

최근 한류현상이 전 세계적으로 확대되고 한류의 영향에 대한 관심이 증가함에 따라 한류와 관련한 많은 연구들이 수행되어졌다. 이에 본 연구에서는 보다 구체적으로 한류관광과 관련한 연구의 동향을 살펴봄으로써 한류관광 관련연구의 개괄적인 흐름과 문제점을 파악하고, 보다 실질적이고 효율적인 향후 연구방향을 제시하고자 하였다. 연구의 목적을 위하여 2003년부터 2012년 10월 30일까지 국내 학술지에 게재된 한류관광 관련 연구논문 61편을 연 구대상으로 선정하였으며, 연구성격, 연구주제, 연구대상, 연구방법, 연구의 구성 등을 중심으로 연구대상논문을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 한류관광과 관련하여 2003년 최초의 논의가 시작 된 이후 2007년까지 관련 논의는 증가세를 보였으나, 2008년부터 2009년 까지 한류침체기에는 연구논문 역시 줄어든 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 신 한류 열풍과 함께 2010년 이후부터는 다시 한류관광과 관련한 논의가 증가세를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 연구주제의 경우 대개 한류의 영향으로 인한 방한 외래 관광객의 관광행태를 중심으로 한 연구가 주를 이루고 있었으며, 연구대상에 있어서는 중국인, 연구방법에 있어서는 빈도분석, 요인분석, 신뢰도 분석, 회귀분석의 활용도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 연구 구성의 경우 원인, 현황, 효과, 제언의 다각적인 측면에서의 논의한 연구의 비중이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 한류열풍으로 인한 관광분야의 역할과 중요성이 크게 강조되고 있는 현 시점에서 지금까지의 한류관광에 관한 연구동향을 전반적으로 살펴본 바에 의하면, 향후 한류관광과 관련한 연구 영역이 보다 다양하고 광범위하게 확산 되어야 할 것이며 한류관광 현상에 대한 심층적이고 실용적인 연구로의 발전이 이루어져야 할 것이다.
