Since Joseon was founded in 1392, the Joseon accepted envoys from both the Jurchen and a Japanese. And then it decreased their invasion. Also, they were considered in Joseon’s diplomatic system. There were a lot of records about a envoys from Joseon’s beginning to King of Seong-jong(成宗). But it started to be decreased after the reign of Yeonsangun(燕山君). In previous studies, they asserted it was because relationship change between the Joseon and the Jurchen. The result was that the Jurchen wasn’t mission to Hanyang(來朝).
The record of the Jurchen mission to Hanyang had decreased after the reign of Yeonsan. On closer examination to the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty, however, the Jurchen mission must be continued although the Annals didn"t have clear records such as the mission to Hanyang. And Joseon still to maintain the independent diplomatic order. Through these results, it presents that the scale and number of envoy was not changed in King of Seong-jong.
In conclusion, the Jurchen’s mission to Hanyang were continued and the Joseon actively conducted efficient diplomatic policy in the middle of the Joseon Dynasty. Above all, this result is in contrast with existing relative studies.
