Translation is one of the ways introducing studies from abroad. This article focuses on the translation of American contemporary sociological theory into Korean(from Parsons to the 1970s, including structural functionalism, conflict theory, symbolic interactionism, exchange theory, phenomenological sociology and ethnomethodology). First, just few translations has been published in Korea. The worse is that many of major works has not been translated yet. Second, most of translations has been published in the late 1970s and the early 1980s. However, it is noticeable that the number of publication seems to be revitalized recently. Third, some translations has not been conducted by sociologist(especially, symbolic interactionism). Fourth, translations published 20 or more years ago are just available in second-hand bookstores.
