This article is a review on Western people who play a role of East Asian modernization, for example, Western management, missionaries, traders, and other professionals freely come-and-going on this region"s open port cities since the modern in East Asia, Especially looked for people-to-people exchanges of Modern Western merchants in East Asia, and would provide opportunity to try thinking about the area of early modern East Asia.
That is study of the development of Western merchants" people-to-people exchanges that was lived at Foreign settlement (Concession) in the port city of East Asia. And has canvass a means for cultural history of the Foreign Concession (Concession) in the formation of the port city, focusing on Western merchants" social network. Also a network of ports in East Asia was identified through research of activities of Western merchants that earn money for trade between the port cities.y through trading from hours of tby living in the port city of East Asian. ports also benefit had secured the port city through has also identified.
This study also is done to check the self-evident premise that Cultural interaction between the port city is fundamentally in terms of the physical and human exchange, and even routine nature and hybridity revealed in people-to-people exchanges has been questioned the problem of approach that had interpreted the cross-cultural exchanges based on abstract composition conflict of conventional so-called ‘Eastern vs. Western’, ‘Shock and resistance’ or ‘acceptance and spread’.
