‘DasanHak’(茶山學) is composed of the Knowledge of Confucion Classics as a fundamental study and the administrative study as an applied study.
The administrative study is formed on the basis of the knowledge of Confucion Classics, which gives birth to democratic ethics. Therefore, the study of ‘ DasanHak’(茶山學) must be comprehended under the denominations of‘ The Basic Morals of The Four Books and The Six Classics’(六經四書).
As for Dasan’s explanation of perfect virtue(Jen;仁), he regards perfect virtue as the social ethics which strives to materialize high human value, objecting to sub-jective idealism of Chuja.
As for Chung and Suh, Chuja regards Chung as a positive activities practising perfect virtue and Shu as a negative activities, through a dualistic approach. Whereas Dasan sees them together, as united into a Two-in-One identity on the unitary view.
He attaches great importance to the doctrine of ‘Su-ki Chi-in’(修己治人), which maybe considered the basic doctrine of reformed Confucionism.
Consequently, he not only made a systematic reexamination and critique of Neo-Confucion thought in general but developed an original, alternative philosophical system including a metaphysics and ethics that revived the practical spirit of Classical Confucionism.
Dasan’s Research Inclination of the Analects of Confucion is concerning Shilhak(實學) and Research(考證) Annotation.
