The purpose of this study was to present policy directions for invigorating low carbon green tourism(LCGT). This study established concepts in LCGT and devised a conceptual framework, and designated evaluation indicators for LCGT based on the Literature review. This study presented policy directions for invigoration of LCGT through conjoint analysis and importance-performance analysis. The results of research indicated that 1) policy directions should prioritize adaption to climate change above all for the purpose of invigorating LCGT. 2) on a more detailed level, ① participation from tourists and visitors can be induced through an explanation and experience program that focuses on climate change, ② management plans need to be established to minimize damages to green tourism resources from climate change, ③ support should be provided to enable installation of low carbon tourism facilities that leverage green technologies, ④ separate biking and walking paths for trekking tours should be expanded, ⑤ changes in people?s attitudes and behavior can be induced through the provision of information on climate change to tourists and workers within the tourist area, ⑥ travel agencies need to develop LCGT tour packages, ⑦ proposals will be needed to convert the existing tourism industry to a low carbon tourism industry. This study provides clear definitions of the conceptual framework of LCGT, and by developing evaluation indicators for LCGT in Korea, is significant in presenting directions for activation of LCGT in the future. The results of this research can be applied in the preparation of guidelines for LCGT and management in Korea and the establishment of LCGT evaluation systems.
