The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of health running program on physique, body composition and physical fitness in children. The study measures three times (pre-, middle-, and post-test) the children’s physique (body height and body weight), body composition (muscle mass and body fat percentage) and physical fitness (back strength, side step, sit-up, sit and reach, one-leg stand, and standing long jump) The 383 participants consist of 3-, 4-, and 5-year-olds in health running program and normal classes. All measurements were analyzed including those of children in the health running program group (n=31) and normal group (n=29) for 60 children. First, the study found that children’s body height in all groups increased significantly. The health running program group, however, increased in body height significantly more than did the normal group. Children’s body weights in all groups increased significantly. Second, children’s muscle mass in all groups increased significantly. The health running program group, however, increased in muscle mass significantly more than did the normal group. Body fat percentage in health running program group was significantly lower than the normal group. Third, children’s back strength, sit-up, standing long jump and side step in health running program group was significantly increased than the normal group.
