Needless to say, nuclear weapon has always been one of the hot topics in the area of security and international relations since its first explosion in Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. Moreover, nuclear weapon has been the most critical issue for Koreans since 1992, when North Korea"s nuclear weapon development programs were first revealed. Nevertheless, no university in Korea offers a course on this topic yet. Thus, this paper proposes a curriculum for the course on nuclear weapon.
The study begins with the argument that university students should study historical, political and strategic aspects of nuclear weapons as a distribution course or a major core course. The study then suggests the basic concepts, theorems and facts about nuclear weapons the student need to learn in a model curriculum for 15 weeks. The curriculum is made up with historical aspect, basic concepts and theorems of nuclear strategy, application of the concepts to real issues, and major case studies on some nuclear states.
