Mental health problem in Seoul has been rapidly increasing during the last 10 years, and has ranked the highest rage among OECD countries for the past years. According to 2011 OECD Health data, the rate of increase in suicide in Korea also showed the highest and rapid change compared to OECD countries.
Based on this fact, the purpose of this study is to understand the situation of mental health problem in Seoul and the current status of mental health policy and services, to review comprehensively both domestic and foreign prevention and management services for Seoul citizens. Finally, this study is to suggest policy support plans for mental health for Seoul citizens.
Recommendations based on this study are as follows:
Community based mental health services are needed.
Specific programs and services of mental health including suicide, depression, stress, PTSD are required.
Preventing risks, promoting services, and improving recognition of mental health need to be strengthened.
