Human users interact with artifacts in achieving their tasks. In such interactions, human users perceive information from artifacts as well as the related context, and make their decisions employing their cognitive and emotional processes, and then perform resulting activities. We study this kind of two way communication between users and artifacts. The structural entities of artifacts that contribute in providing affordances, that is, inducing natural activities and behaviors of users, are called affordance features. This presentation will show specific affordance features of typical medical support devices as identified through a systematic activity-function interaction method. Particularly, those medical products used by human users for themselves have been studied. Repository of such affordance feature will help designing for affordances.
