Through the studying 『KYUEAMILROK』, which contains information on the Kyungsangdo-Local examination of Munkwa in the first half of the 17th century, the article intends to look at actual implementation of the examination, and to find out the understanding of the examination among local confucianists and their interests.
The first result is local confucianists had a strong desire to pass the Munkwa examination in order to participate in the politics of the central government, because the local government had the system of Local Elites, and the central government was going through Faction Politics. The second, the Kyungsangdo-Local examinations were generally run as intended. However, the prerequisites for taking the exam and the determination of examination results by the examiner often saw rule violations. Some of the violations were corrected later, but the political turmoil caused some of the violations to worsen.
