With the advancement of mobile devices, especially smartphone, new technologies that combine mobile devices and wireless information technology have been developed. The purpose of this study is a) to introduce a new tourism-related technology, NFC(Near Field Communication) which is a short-range high frequency wireless communication technology that enables the exchange of information between devices and have a significant effect on the experience of leisure and business travelers and the ways travellers gain tourist information. and b) provide practical suggestions to facilitate the adoption of NFC technology by DMOs (Destination Marketing Organizations). To achieve the purpose, literature review and case study were conducted and several potentials of NFC for tourism industry such as real-time information and payment function were drawn.
