This is a historical research about the ancient armor of Korea and an analysis of the cases which are used as cultural contents. Above all, understanding of the kind and the basic structure of armor and partial armor in ancient era are carrie on. Next, the characteristics of the armor could be found. Research is focused on former era of three kingdoms period and Goguryeo. Baekje. Silla, Ggya. We can find reproduction of this ancient armor in TV dramas and movies, fashion show clothes, museum exhibitions and so on.
Even though the historical research is more accurate than before, still a considerable distance exists between the reproduction and the truth. First, there isn’t exact distinction among different nationalities of ancient armors. Second, Joseon dynasty’s armor often replaces ancient armor. Third, the characteristics of Chinese armor was applied for the splendid appearance. To solve these problems we should reproduce armors based on in-depth research.
This paper proposes the solutions of problem which often occurs when we utilize the ancient armor. First, we should make every effort to ascertain precise historical research. Seoond, we should try to contain the exact historical truth in any genre. Third, the great history should be spread out widely in various formats. Cultural content should be actively used to.
