This study aims to investigate the effects of eating habits and physical index on the competitive state anxieties of students in college of physical education. The population of this study is college students who was majoring in physical education in 2011. After surveyed colleges were randomly selected, 233 students of the colleges were collected by cluster sampling method. Excluding invalid questionnaires, 207 samples were used for final analysis.
Exploratory factor analysis, Bartlett test of sphericity and scree test show that it is appropriate to extract three factors: cognitive anxieties, physical anxieties and self-confidence. According to correlation analysis between those factors and independent variables, cognitive anxieties factors has significant negative correlation with three habit variables and BMR, significant positive correlation with body fat percentage. Physical anxieties factor has also significant positive correlation with body fat percentage. On the other hand, self-confidence factor has significant positive correlation with eating habit variables and BMR, significant negative correlation with body fat percentage.
The major results of multiple regression analysis on these variables are as follows. First, the higher the body fat percentage is, the higher cognitive anxieties factor score is. Also, the lower WHR or eating habit variables score is, the higher cognitive anxieties factor score is. Second, the higher body fat percentage is, the higher physical anxieties factor score is. Finally, the lower the body fat percentage is, or the higher eating habit variable is, the higher self-confidence factor score is.
