As the world population is aging, especially in advanced countries, the paradigm of the environmental plan has been changed. Rapidly growing baby-boomer population has altered the concept of aging friendly environment, because this generation with material prosperity, unlike previous generations, is pursuing various lifestyles, and life values. Along with these, the development of today’s science technology and cultural change has accelerated these demands. In Korea, there is no accumulated experience of developing and managing the aging friendly environment, and accordingly, some developments in Korea were more likely to follow the former experience of developed countries. Since the environment for our reference has changed so fast, it is necessary to read this changing trend for developing right one for Korean. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to find out current concept of the aging friendly environment changes. For this purpose, a qualitative method was used by analyzing the contents presented at a latest leading conference on Environment for Aging which is a gathering field of live information on current trend. The data were collected through visiting conference, recording presented contents, collecting relevant publication, and interviewing as needed. The analysis was conducted by extracting keywords and connecting them to grasp the current trends. As a result, this study found several current trends; combining green design strategy with elderly living environment, pursuing diverse way of social mix, and emphasizing Evidence Based Design. These trends imply the necessity of the change in the developmental direction of Korean elderly housing, preventing the conventional trial and error otherwise expected.
