Currently, the critical topic of Korean society is a ‘integration’. The polarization of society ? sharp decrease of the middle classes, widening of property disparity, the extreme unbalance of a conglomerates and smallmedium sized enterprises, and the gap between regular employees and the temps, capital and local regions, urban and rural areas, owing to which, psychological polarization of a people?has aggravated a crisis consciousness of the Korean people. The long-and short-term fluctuation of population according to the low birth rate and the ageing that brings the increase of migrants is the key issues in arranging the problems of social integration. This study analyses the integration policy of several countries to deduce the implications for our society, which follows the definition of social integration. United Kingdom and France in Europe, United States and Canada as the traditional immigration countries, and Germany and Japan as the states of jus sanguinis are examined. The focus of analysis is put on the legal and institutional aspects of integration policies for the purpose of the institutional implications for Korean society.
