The purpose of this study is to study the ancient Chinese scholars from the perspective of conservative and progressive political thoughts. Research of the traditional Chinese thought, because the distinction between scholars study, has limitations. In this study, the scholars of ancient China(Confucianism, Mohism, Taoism and Legalism) are divided into two classes, the conservative class and the progressive one. Then, in the understanding of human being, the monarch power and social order and the common people, the differences and similarities in their ideas have been studied.
Xunzi, such as heretics, but a orthodox Confucian scholars were peoples who believe in the laws of good heaven. Therefore, they saw positive human society, and became a conservative. Confucius and Mencius stressed the role of the monarch to build the social order, and another policies for the common people he will unfold.
In the Mozi’s idea, we can observe a reform and people-oriented characteristics. The political ideology of Mozi has the advantages that is to complement the drawbacks of the nobility-oriented Confucian.
Humanistic disciplines of Confucius and Mozi is compared with Laozi and Zhuangzi is a naturalistic study. In fact, the views of Laozi and Zhuangzi even for some positive influences to govern for the common people itself may or may not be right. But the role of philosopher-monarch, by the Political Thought of Laozi and Zhuangzi, is only for the common people made .
Hanfeizi recognized a natural Heaven’ views that the life and death of human beings not be affected by the Heaven. However, he was used the traditional concept of Heaven as the basis of the monarch power to govern common people. Consequently he explained the purpose of the monarch power to keep law and order and to ensure the economic stability of the common people.
