The theory of “waegu=multi-nations and complex pirates,” which is insisted by japanese historians, is deprived from the unknown and misunderstanding about the history of Korea.
The keyword to know the true face of the Waegu of 14th century, is ‘podo.’ It means ‘the group of escape from Japan.’ And the situation of escape is caused by the internal war of Japan(so-called, Nanbokuchoperiod).
The japanese historians did not have idea to understand the background of the outbreak of waegu(wakou), in the big category of “the change of an international order of eastern asian society,” in other words “the agitation and collapse of Pax mongolica.”
Because of the misunderstanding of Korean history and ethnic prejudice, the japanese historians could not understand the historical phenomenon, waegu in a causal relationship, but characterized it as a vague being, like the theory of “waegu=multi-nations and complex pirates” or the theory of “waegu=alliance of Korean and Japanese.”
As a result, they cut the way of understanding the japanese history of that time, in the big category of history of Eastern Asia.
