High carbon hot-rolled steels produced in steel works are cold-rolled, annealed, press-formed and finally heat-treated. A proper selection of steel type and manufacturing process of the high carbon steels is very important to reduce the cost and to meet the required properties. In this study, optimum steel type and manufacturing processes for automotive drive plate using high carbon steels have been derived. Press quenching process has been considered to reduce the dimensional change in the heat treatment.
