Much Ado About Nothing is a unique romantic comedy in the sense that it suggests very nihilistic and realistic vision of love and marriage. The definition of love in the play is much ado about nothing caused by very deception and illusion in the relationship between male and female. The play suggests the paradox of deception and illusion in love with two couples’ contrasting loves and marriages. In the main episode of Claudio/Hero’s love and marriage cluster the weaknesses and wrongs of male dominated society. Through the episode, finally it turns out to be that much ado about Hero’s chastity arose from masculine anxiety rather than feminine betrayal. It means that males are possessed by the belief that there is some hidden reality beyond the mask of women’s innocence. Another episode of Benedick and Beatrice suggests that love and marriage is usually made possible by deceptions and illusions. But, above anything else, when this couple falls in love,” they do not obey a spontaneous, privately engendered emotion so much as reveal their successful interpellation into particular positions within a gender-based social order.
