Why should I live with all my effort? The different notion of Success in life and Victory in life with the review of ‘the myth of Cyzipis’
This paper asks the basic question again; what is a life? why man should maintain his life instead of suicide? Reviewing the Existentialist A. Camus"s work ‘The myth of Cyzipus’, this paper asks if there are any differences between the Orient and Occident concerning this basic question? This paper presumes that Oriental thought is, far apart from that of Occidentalism, based on theory on Human nature and social connection, while Occidentalism is based on Hellenism and Hebrewism. This paper concludes that regardless of the differences of civilization, modern man is to strive not for the ‘success of life’ which the ordinary world has defined, but for the ‘victory of life’ based on the basic values inherited from and rooted in the culture of his own society.
