The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of the emotional work of casino employees on their customer orientation and the mediating effect of emotional burnout on that by looking into earlier studies on emotional burnout and customer orientation. The subjects in this study were 300 workers at a casino in Gangweon province, on whom a survey was conducted. The answer sheets from 280 respondents were gathered, and 270 answer sheets were analyzed except for10 incomplete ones. SPSS WIN 13.0 program was utilized to make an analysis of the collected data. The findings of the study were as follows: The casino employees who fulfilled emotional work became less customer-oriented due to emotional burnout. The finding suggested that during the performance of emotional labor, the casino employees were under the influence of emotional burnout in the course of offering services. Therefore service industries such as a casino should provide sustained education and training for employees who perform emotional work to serve customers in a genuine and sincere manner. There"s something to be desired in this study, as what factors affected emotional burnout wasn"t investigated. Future research efforts will produce more meaningful and better results by finding out a variety of factors that influence emotional burnout.
