Rural Industrial Complex(RIC) that began in the 1983s for activity of rural communities and regional economy. In 2007, RICs in Chungchonbuk-do are 40 place, and are 385 corporations in RICs. Employee is total 13,228 persons. Competitive power of RICs weak location condition, small business, lack of connections system industry, institute, and academy.
RICs has the same problems since it was beginning development. The serious reason is that main body of development is city, county office which is substance financial condition.
The main focus of RICs needs to be put on the revitalization of existing Complexs(enterprises) the future complexes, although the number is expected to be very few, have to be formed in the context of industrial location policy. It is necessary that RICs be promoted in light of industrial location policy and regionally balanced development policy of the national economy. Also it is important that local governments have to play the major roles in achieving those goals.
