This meta-analysis examines the relationship between leadership and commitment. 26 studies from 1996 through 2010 were reviewed and the total effect size came out as .42. The result is as follows. First, athletes in group have higher commitment than individual athletes. Second, commitment comes out highest in the order of charismatic, transformational, and transactional leadership. Third, organizational commitment has higher effect size than exercise commitment. Fourth, amateurs have higher commitment than professional athletes. Fifth, middle school student athletes have higher commitment than university or amateur athletes. Sixth, as athletes are older and the ratio of male is higher, the regression between leadership and commitment gets higher and it’s statistically significant.
