The purpose of this study was to examine effects of physical educational teacher's transformational leadership on student's trust in teacher, commitment in and effectiveness of class, student's creativity and problem-solving ability in elementary school. Specifically, the role of trust as a mediator in the relationship between transformational leadership and trust, commitment, effectiveness, creativity and problem-solving ability was tested. Data were collected from 1,106 students in 6th grade from 36 elementary schools. Questionnaire was constructed to assess transformational leadership, trust, commitment and effectiveness of physical educational class, creativity and problem-solving ability. 1,075 questionnaires were used for statistical analysis to test hypotheses. Results that support hypotheses of this study were as follows: First, 3 elements of transformational leadership were significant predictors for trust in teacher. Second, the role of trust as moderator was confirmed. Finally, need for well-designed experimental study, development of transformational leadership scale for children, and leadership training program based on transformational leadership theory were discussed.
