This article mainly focuses on the changes in the functional stylistic system of the modern Russian language, and in particular, on the mixture of heterogeneous stylistic components in the style of mass-media language.
As the main tendencies of development in the modern Russian this article lists democratization, strengthening of orality, expansion of borders of the literary (standard) language and its norms that are directly connected to stylistic dynamism. Stylistic dynamism, as an aspect of historical development of the Russian language, now begins to extend to all spheres of the Russian language. In particular, the sphere of oral, informal and spontaneous conversation is gradually extending.
And the language of the mass-media is the place where all these linguistic processes are occurring intensively. As the major factors causing stylistic dynamism in the language of the mass-media this article considers the alternation of the standard and expressional linguistic means in the mass-media text and the new communicative strategy of the journalists: namely the strategy of "subjectivization" and "democratization", which led to the strengthening of dialogicity and the use of various stylistic elements, in particular, the elements of informal colloquial style. Thus, in the language of the mass-media today, standard and substandard language elements coexist and the borders between different functional styles, between written and oral language styles, between normative and un-normative languages are washing away.
Thus the language of the mass-media becomes a laboratory where the new elements and means of literary language are processed. Still, as a model of functioning in the modern Russian literary language, it makes a huge impact on the formation of the collective linguistic taste.
