The rapid development of technology has shifted the focus of the digital industry economy from a product-based economy to a service-based economy. This has created an opportunity for the digital industry sector to expand its boundaries to include services, hence creating synergy effects and new opportunities. Based on these developments, existing industries, technologies, and contents are converging into a new form and being applied in the digital industry. Although numerous firms have recently attempted to converge diverse products into new opportunities, over-convergence has created side effects. Especially when services optimized for other products are embedded into a specific platform, a convergence strategy for a systematic digital service is needed in order to provide optimal experience for users. Compared to the influence of digital convergence on the overall industry, there is a lack of theoretical research on the user evaluation of digital convergence as existing research on digital convergence have focused on how to make one product out of different digital products. However, digital services are fundamentally different from digital products for a number of specific reasons and thus it requires a different focus. Therefore, this study utilized the IPTV, which has experienced worldwide growth due to the development of internet communications, to propose guidelines for digital service convergence under a single platform. In order to do this, this study has three goals. First, this study aims to understand the standards in segmenting different digital services and then deduce representative services in each category. Second, in order to converge the deduced services, system design elements among the elements that comprise the services considered to be influential in convergence will be extracted. Third, based on the theory of conceptual combination, the important design elements will be converged and thus present new proposals on how services should be converged.
