This study aims to establish environmental indicators which could assess environmental aspects of the area of residential land development so that it could held to drive nature-friendly development in an aggressive way.
Category of environment impact and environmental indicators in each range of assessment were based on the prior study of the environmental assessment and educed survey on the rational value of indicators among the staff members in those organizations that are involved in residential land development directly such as: Korea National Housing Corporation, Daegu Urban Development Corporation, and the Korea Land Corporation.
The results of this study are summarized as follows :
In order to assess the environment in the residential land development area, we set up 11 environmental indicators. In order to fulfill the requirements for nature-friendly development in the residential area, the minimum criteria was set up according to the indicators and we conducted an environmental assessment, by making reference to 4 exemplary project areas.
It was found that two indicators in Daegu-Chilgok-4 Residential Land Development Project Area, four Indicators in Kyungsan Sah-dong-2 Residential Land Development Project Area and four indicators in Daegu-Yulba Residential Land Development Project Area did not meed the minimum requirements. Only Whasung-Dongtan Residential Land Development Project Area satisfied the minimum criteria of 11 environmental indicators.
