Globally, the number of elderly people is increasing and Korea will become a super-aged society in 2026. As a result, seniors are recognized as main agents of having social rights not simply the weak people. Today our society is at a turning point of paradigm from Knowledge information society to Knowledge creation society. People has created new values with social media and smart media tools. The movement of change has appeared inquiring more meaningful educational concerns using these media in educational ways. Smart phone fever is inevitable in the media innovation age but seniors suffer from emerging problems. Problems are kinds of sense of loss or isolation since having difficulty of catching up with ceaselessly changing new technology. For living independently in this change, value creation ability is needed not only by learning but using techniques. But most conventional media education programs for seniors can not reflect needs of creative and independent media learning. The programs are targeted at the level of informational learning only and they are passive learning form.(Jinsuk Kang, 2010) Thus, our educational program is for reinforce seniors" self-contentment, a sense of purpose on life and selfidentity through improving self-expression ability using smart media not just learning smart media techniques.

전 세계적으로 고령인구가 빠른 속도로 늘고 있으며, 이제 노인은 단순히 사회적 약자가 아닌 사회적 권리를 지닌 주체로 인식되고 있다. 이와 더불어 우리 사회는 지식정보화시대를 넘어 지식창조의 시대로 패러다임의 전환기를 맞고 있다. 소셜미디어(Social media), 스마트 기기(Smart device) 등의 출현은 새로운 가치의 창출을 보다 손쉽게 만들었으며, 사람들의 라이프 스타일(life style)을 변화시키고 있다. 하지만 이처럼 급격한 세상의 변화 속에서 살아가는 노인들은 상대적으로 상실감 내지 고립감을 느끼기 쉬우며, 이는 심각한 사회문제를 야기한다. ‘노인미디어교육’은 이러한 사회적 문제를 해결하기 위한 하나의 방편이 될 수 있는데, 이는 노인들이 보다 주체적으로 살아가기 위해 현재 발전하고 있는 기술을 익히고 실생활에 활용하며 나아가 새로운 가치를 창출해내는 능력을 길러주기 때문이다. 하지만 현장에서 이루어지고 있는 노인 미디어 교육은 대부분 ‘정보화 교육 수준’에만 머물러, 고령층의 창의적인 미디어 학습 욕구를 반영하지 못하고 있는 실정이다.
따라서 본 연구는 이러한 문제점들을 보완하여, 노인들이 스마트미디어의 기술을 습득하는 것뿐만 아니라 이를 활용하여 미디어생산이라는 가치창출을 통해 자기표현능력을 향상시킴으로써 삶의 주체자로서 자기만족과 목적의식, 자아정체성을 강화시키고자 한다. 이는 정보화 사회에서 노인의 정보 접근 문제를 해소하고, 노인 스스로가 자신들의 목소리를 낼 수 있게 할 것이다. 그리고 노인의 문화와 여가 활동을 다양하게 할 것이다. 나아가 본 연구를 통해 궁극적으로 노인의 미디어 문화 접근권 보장과 확장을 가능케 하고, 노인의 삶의 질과 만족도를 높일 것이라 기대해 본다.
