This study aimed to identify the effect of laughing therapy on sleep, depression and self-esteem of elderly women in senior home. As having the target of elderly women living in D city P area, the research is to compare two experiments: to apply laughing therapy and not to apply. Using SPSS WIN. 12.0 program, we analyze the followings: 1)The general characteristics of the target using a real number and percentage, average and standard deviation; 2)Verification of the rate of homogeneity about the general character and subordinate variables prior to experiment using χ²-test and independent t-test; 3)Verification of the difference between the target and the comparison case before and after the experiment by paried t-test, and verification of the difference between sleep, depression and self-respect of the target and the comparison case after the experiment by ANCOVA; and 4)Verification of reliability of the tool by Chronbach's α.
The results are as follows. 1)The general characteristics of the target and comparison case has no great differences, which means 'equal'. 2)Subordinate variables between the target and comparison case is convinced to be same since they have no big differences in statistics. 3)The score of sleep after laughing therapy to the targets has a slight difference in statistics, which means that it is effective. 4)The score of depression after laughing therapy to the targets has a slight difference in statistics, which means that it is effective. 5)The score of self-esteem after laughing therapy to the targets has no big difference (p=.057) in statistics, thus not effective.
