In general, obesity is mostly caused by chronic imbalance of metabolizable energy where taking nutrion exceeds expenditure of energy.
focusing on this hypothesis, this research was designed to verify whether the yoga practisce conducted in parallel with meditation for diet is more effective in reducing fat. The research resurt shows that the combined pratice proved to have a noticeable effect on breaking down fat and prevents overeating, binge and vorcity respectively.
Thirty-two of middle aged women who practic yoga at Women’s Center in Yangpyung-gun, Gyeonggi-do were selected as subject for this research. Among them, sixteen of experimental group were chosen who will conduct meditation for diet. Yoga practice was conducted twice a week for two hours per day and meditation for diet was conducted at least once a week for forty minutes a day during eight weeks. Before conducting the research, we measured nine of physical items of thirty -two of yogis with empty stomach by using “In body 4.0” in Yangpyung-gun Health Center.
Eight weeks later using same “In body” devise in Yangpyang-gun Health Center, we re-measured nine of physical items of both 16 people of experimental group and control group with empty stomach.
By examining both first and second measurement, we found a significant difference in experimental group in comparison to the control group in aspects of all BMI, body fat and WHR. We noticed 1.19Kg of weight and 1.38Kg of body fat reduction and an average decrease of 0.57% of BMI, 1.88% of body fat and 0.02% of belly fat.
Especilly, there was significant difference in visceral fat between experimental and control group. Comparing experimantal group with control group, we observed an avergage 3.68 ㎠ of viseral fat reduction.
Therefore, if we further research and develop meditation for dite showing the noticeable effect on breaking down fat in a more systematic way, we should expect that it will definitely contribute to resolving the problem of many people who are exposed to adult disease caused by excess of BMI, body fat, belly fat and especially viceral fat, as a precautionary measure and promotion of health.
