This paper is the study about academic origin and role, status in Sonjo(宣祖)~Injo(仁祖) period of Wolsa(月沙) Lee Jeong-Gu(李廷龜) who was representative scholar, official in the middle of the Choson dynasty. Even though lived in the period of party strife(黨爭), he was not hung up on party platform(黨論). As a result, He is remembered as one of the best leader during his scholar, official life of 45 years.
The contents of this paper is as follows. First, I researched origin and academic system of Lee Jeong-Gu’ leadership that was summarized by openness or catholicity. Secondly, I examined what he did role for development of Sarim school(士林派) and what was historical background about that. Finally, I researched why he was the driving force on ’gainning fame project about Seong-Hon(牛溪 成渾) and Yi-Yi(栗谷 李珥)‘(牛栗顯揚事業), even though he was not student of them, and what is his perception of reality and viewpoint of Sarim school. This analysis and review is significant in the sense that it has become standard study for research scholar, official tendency of Kyonggi-do area in the late Chosun dynasty.
