This article deals with life and views on the world in buddhist poetry of ChoWoen Lee Choong-ik(1744-1816). The prior works cover his family history, life history, philosophy and literature, but they are all in the category of Yang Ming philosophy, or in the category of Daoism, or in the caterogy of Kanghwa School. The study on his poetry paid attention to series style poem of Kanghwa School, or realistic poetry having critics of society from fallen-down group. However, personal characteristics may be overlooked due to categoristic generalization. Lee Choong-iks literature『ChoWoenYuGo(椒園遺劇』, possessed in GyuJangGak, has 528 poems in the order of written year, and 311 poems are series style poem. The most favorite topic of his poem is travel and buddhism. This article delve his buddist poetry into four sides, study on buddhist books, Yeongi(緣起) inspiration, Zen(禪) meditation practice, desire(發願) and caricature to restructure his life trace and internal world.
