The 1980s is a crucial period in the Korean literature. It is ‘the age of Mook movement,’ and many writers in the 1980s investigated new forms of writing which could reflect political events of the past. Kim Jung-hwan is the representative author of the age of Mook. His works presents the complicated aspects of literature in the state of emergency of the 1980s. This paper discusses the politics of literature in the period of 1980s and the author’s position on the political events with reference to various works. Deconstruction and diffusion of the system will be also discussed with special attention to the Mook movement of the 1980s.
