The article has discussed on the space of Je-ju(the aspect of universality inherited commonly among similar phenomena), placeness(the aspect of particularity distinguishing a certain phenomenon for the others among similar phenomena), and some historic data centered on the account of travel of the history of landscape formation in Je-ju, which includes the aspects of universality of most of the existing cities in the world beyond the aspects of particularity of border area, a place of exile, and an island in the age of Chosun Dynasty.
The study has no choice but to depend on some historic remains and public records of history due to the issue of the space, place, and landscape in the passed past. The thinking mechanism of production subjects(subject of history) the experiencing and understanding the world could be more or less understood, but the stories of the native Je-ju people did hardly remain. It was difficult for me to write the fourth chapter, the adversity of "sanctum". Despite the history out of historical data it is meaningful to explore some histories and traces, their origins, the sanctum area as mythic space, and believers" perspective on nature, for approximately 400 shrines have existed and 70% of them has their loyal customers in Je-ju.
