The sentiment of “Melancholy” that is found on the Dongin Ji in 1920’s has been criticized due to its passive and retrogressive attitude, which was considered as escaping the reality, even though that was letting out their pent up anger toward failure of “3.1. Independence Movement”. This is the result of the interpretation which combines the historical atmosphere and critical mind that can be found in the Dongin Ji in 1920’s. The implication of the various symbols and writing method which was found in Dongin Ji, remains limited due to its one sided interpretation. The critical mind of this thesis is starting from this point and tried to re evaluate the sentiment of “Melancholy” that can be commonly found in Dongin Ji in the 1920’s and developed the debated aiming at Lee, Jang Hee(Poet) among them.
The sentiment of the “Melancholy” in Lee Jang Hee"s poet can be interpreted in positive way related with “The Old Memory” and “The Tomb”, although his “Melancholy” also evaluated as passive and retrogressive attitude just like other poets in a discourse system of Dongin Ji on those days. This thesis is mainly referred the concept of Kristeva’s “Melancholy” and by reading this paper we can find out affect of the “Melancholy” which is presented in Lee, Jang Hee’s poem is oriented at maternal world and presented in various writing method which dissolves order of symbolic(le symbolique) on those days. Therefore the sentiment of “Melancholy” which is presented in Lee, Jang Hee’s poem is consious product which is trying to shaping new poetic order and can be considered as “Maternal Politics”.
