The purpose of this research is to identify the impact of the characteristics of gym environments perceived by elementary Taekwondo trainees on discipline satisfaction and adherent behavior to discipline participation. This research was conducted targeting elementary Taekwondo trainees of 10 Taekwondo gyms located in Seoul metropolitan area as of 2009, and 378 subjects were sampled using Convenience Sampling. The results of testing the reliability of questionnaire for this research revealed that Cronbach’s α was between .887 and .980, so that the internal consistency of the questionnaires was relatively high.
The statistical techniques used in this research were Frequency Analysis, Correlation Analysis, and Simple Regression Analysis, etc. Based on the above research methods and data analysis results, the conclusions drawn therefrom are as follows: First, all factors involving with facility, program, trainer, and accessibility which were sub factors of the characteristics of gym environments perceived by Taekwondo trainees affected discipline satisfaction. Second, the sub factors related to facility, program, and accessibility excluding the trainer-related factors had impacts on discipline continuity intention and recommendation to others which were sub factors of adherent behavior to discipline participation. Third, discipline satisfaction of Taekwondo trainees affected discipline continuity intention and recommendation to others which were sub factors of adherent behaviors to discipline participation.
