There exist controversial aesthetic attitudes to Su Shi’s works in ancient Korea. With the emergence of the saying “famous essays in Qin and Han dynasty and excellent poems in prosperous Tang Dynasty” in Ming Dynasty, this literary trend was fully accepted by authors in Korean Dynasty, their creative thoughts and literary critiques began to shift from Song to Tang dynasty. Li Cuiguang was one of the main representatives of this school. In Ancient Literary Criticism in Korea poets’ monographs, Li’s literary criticism was more comprehensive. Li held a negative attitude to Su Shi’s poetic views that poems were the vehicles of contents, arguments and scholarship. In spite of his overall negation, Li still focused on the merits and demerits of Su Shi’s poetry, lyrics, essays and analyzed them thoroughly.
