The purpose of this study is to suggest the advancement of urban disaster prevention. This study analyzed urban disaster characteristics focusing on the four-step process of disaster management namely, mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery, with detailed evaluation items set mainly to characterize urban disaster prevention and disaster management issues and to derive improvements in the advancement of disaster prevention measures.
In doing so, focusing on fire administration in Incheon Metropolitan City, the literature was searched and in-depth interviews of actual managers were conducted. In conclusion, Incheon Metropolitan City has drawn operational problems and urban disaster prevention improvement. This study has suggested a focus on policies that Incheon Metropolitan City will try to promote. Through analysis, education training programs and efficient management organization in urban disaster prevention have been suggested.
