This paper describes how the plural marker tul influences the semantic meaning of sentences and what tul means semantically in specific contexts. Firstly, this paper discusses whether the semantic meaning of sentences is different when Korean plural is expressed in two different ways, i.e. with the plural marker tul and without it via the approach of sentences analysis. The author found out that tul is dispensable when a noun is qualified by a numeral, actually in certain cases plural usages without the plural marker tul would be more appropriate and natural. Yet when the predicate per se is collective, it is still clear to both speakers and listeners that it refers to collective semantic meanings even without using the plural marker tul because the subject in this case is certainly plural as well. Secondly, the paper describes different semantic meanings of tul in specific contexts. The plural marker tul is not only used for plural expression, but it also can be used to emphasize each individual within one group in different contexts. Comparing to previous research, this paper focuses on the usage of plural pronoun combined with the plural marker tul.
