This study aims to examine the aspect and the problem to contain the narrative literature in 18 kinds of literary textbooks. It was found at one point that there is an acute shortage of the contained narrative literature in the textbooks. Besides, the contained narrative literature doesn't provide students to learn it in the main text. It shows in the learning activities and provides to learn it indirectly. There are problems in the criteria of topics selection and its system so that there is no hierarchy between the first and second volumes of literature textbooks. There was an occasion that the guide lines of the unit and the objective, the main text part and the learning activities part have no organic connectivity. The literature class consists of the learning activities that ask students to study a lot more and it can be the big burden to students and teachers both. It should be changed because these problems of teaching narrative literature don’t drive the narrative literature class into the function properly.
Thereupon, I suggested the effective method to teach the narrative literature through 〈The woodcutter and the fairy〉 and 〈The snail wife〉 that are well known. So, I suggested how to utilize the regional narrative stories and how to restructure them in the literature textbook as a way to improve the problems of teaching the narrative literature. These suggestions of improvement are useful for differentiating teaching of literature which is emphasized on the coming revised curriculum.
