In this paper, we clarify the correlation between the aesthetics of Schiller and Wilhelm Tell, Schiller's last completed drama In other words, we focus on how Schiller's aesthetic and philosophical ideologies, which were represented in 'Uber die asthetische Erziehung des Menschen' and 'Uber naive und sentimentalische Dichtung', were expressed in the form of literature
In the first place, we overview Schiller's theory of drama and aesthetic thought before discussing Wilhelm Tell, as a drama of an applied aesthetics In the main discourse, we investigate the transition process of Wilhelm Tell and other Swiss people to aesthetic men, concentrating on the main scenes such as Ruth scene, apple-shooting scene, soliloquy scene and Parricida scene Also, observing the development of the drama relating to Schiller's Idylle theory, it is found that Wilhelm Tell is made up of three sections the first Idylle, history and the second Idylle The drama begins with the first Idylle, that is, a traditional paradise characterized by peaceful lifestyle, natural social structure and people's naive way of thinking Subsequently, the main plot of the drama is unfolded the original pastoral nature is destroyed by the violent reign of Austrian Habsburg Family The historical feud With the Austrian governor provokes the Swiss to revive the old union The Swiss were in effort to keep the old public order, but the entirely new social order is established Namely, the feudalistic government by the aristocratic class is replaced by the liberal and impartial human union In this sense, Schiller is representing the process of the aesthetic development of the people from former state of the nation, which is mixed with nature state, mythological heroism and the form of the patriarchal union, to the republican union Thus, the last scene of the drama, which shows a newly established union embracing one another, has a special meaning as more elevated new Idylle From this point of view, Wilhelm Tell is a drama about the transition of Idylle as well as the restoration of Idylle Last restored Idylle is a hard-achieved one, not an inherited one This second politicized Idylle is the aesthetic nation
In conclusion, Wilhelm Tell is a drama as an applied aesthetics in which Schiller's philosophical ideologies such as a theory of aesthetic education is embodied in the form of literature
