The Latinamerican contemporary 'Boom' novels has been known as a literature problematizing the historical identity of the cultural mestizaje society. One of the literary results of the problematized historical consciousness of mestisaie society must be the so called Magic Realism, and its substance has been considered of both historial and mithical stuffs of the mestieaie traditions. Many realist critics understood this imaginative adventure of the latinamerican contemporary writers as a political difiance against the imperial forces that have colonized and dominated latinamerican historical reality for so long centuries. The present article aims at seeing in that difiance a strong efforts to discover their cultural identity, and a more ambivalent consciousness both with hope and despair. What matters is that we may find in that ambivalence the origin of such a energetic imaginative explosion as Magic Realism.
Nowadays the problem goes worse than before. For the strongly imaginative novelistics of the Boom writers have been disappearing, and now we are wittnessing them losing imaginative capacity in the ever more capitalized global society, and their themes and styles more and more coming trivialized. The problem that remains is what will happen in the future; someday will the latinamerican writers recover their imaginative energy one way or another to show us a more successful literature in the globalized world? For the moment it's unpredictable.
