Computational science and engineering (CSE) at Yonsei university is a computer-oriented multidisciplinary area that combines the knowledge and techniques of the traditional engineering fields-electrical, mechanical, chemical, aerospace, nuclear, biomedical, and materials sciencewith the knowledge and techniques of computational and applied mathematics. The ultimate objective of this project is to carry out simulation-based research, which is at the core of CSE, and to provide a powerful alternative to the techniques of experimental science and engineering when the phenomena of interest are not observable or when measurements are impractical or too costly. CSE research provides environments for high-performance computing and interdisciplinary research in science and engineering on the campus of Yonsei University and innovative education of the next generation of engineers and scientists both in theory and practice. This activity will significantly improve the competitiveness of our university in research and education to a world class level, which is the WCU project’s ultimate goal.
