In the mid-1970’s right after ‘the October Revitalizing Reforms’ the discourse of the modernization through export became reinforced even more than before, and so the flag of the rural modernization that, though it had been in formal name only, had had the importance became downgraded to the (rural)modernization. And this was based on the consolidation of the dictatorship of the developing dictatorship, therefore in the various realms of discourse the resisting logic against the dominating discourse as well as the direct political resistance became issued powerfully.
The various novels both inside and outside of New farmer in this era showed the evidences that the organizational contradiction of the whole Korean society containing both farm villages and the cities although the wishful propaganda was raising its voice that the modernization through the increase of export would guarantee wealth of the farm villages and peasants.
Through the scrutiny of this treatise two new tasks became issued to be solved. One is to considerate much more widely and deeply the conflict between the dominating discourses and the resisting ones relating the problems of (rural) modernization in the 1960’s∼1970’s at large. And the other is to analyze the differences between the novels in the government mass media like New Farmer and the serious (literary)magazines which the important individual writers wrote.
