At present computerization is moving away from the computerization of specific procedures, towards development of a single window system in which entering information once suffices for all procedures. There are considerable differences between countries in the development of these system, resulting from differences in timing of their launch and progress, as well as differences in regulations related to trade procedures. In Korea, as various government agencies have each built their own independent computer system, it is pointed out that this has hindered the early development of a single system.
Few countries have already implemented a single window system that allows users to complete trade procedures by entering one set of data into an automated system, and this remains a major task facing many countries. In Singapore, in order to create a system that prioritizes convenience for the user, the related Ministries cooperated from the design stages and this is one of the factors that allowed Singapore to lead the world in introducing a single window system. In Korea, movements are underway to have a single window system in operation by a date as early as possible in 2004.
