This article is to study the characteristics and motivations of Chinese MNCs' cross-border M&A. The reasons of increasing Chinese cross-border M&A are Chinese government policy and related law-regulation's changes including 'going abroad', abundant foreign exchange reserves, the saturation of Chinese domestic market in demand in many industries, and emergence of Chinese MNCs with global competitiveness.
The motivation of Chinese MNCs' cross-border M&A appeared in characteristics by period, industry and region. These are natural resource-seeking in developing countries, strategic asset-seeking and market-seeking in developed countries.
Recent, Chinese cross-border M&A have lots of problems like post-M&A integration. For example, there are integration of tangible asset including people and product, and integration of intangible asset like cop orate culture and customer loyalty. Therefore, in order to success Chinese cross-border M&A, Chinese MNCs need to develop ability to integrate.
