The objective of this paper was to provide the keynote of economic and industrial policy for Gyeonggi Province. For this purpose, reports of economic outlook and economic issues were reviewed. Major economic and industrial policies in Gyeonggi province were examined to derive the keynote of industrial policy.
Five objectives of industrial policies were suggested, such as the raising of national income by thirty thousand US dollars through foreign direct investment, development of R&D clusters, supporting industries recording the higher employment rate, enhancement of traditional industry including agriculture, and development of free economic zone at the port Pyeongtaek. This paper also emphasized the sustainable development in industrial complex, cooperative network system among neighbour regions and nations, and consideration of productivities and employment effect in regional industry.
Major industrial policies and projects were recommended. Finally, specialization and concentration in provincial budget was emphasized.
